An e-mail blast just went out from SUU and prospective students have been answering in force -- from their Blackberry.
What!?!
I've had at least 10 students answer this e-mail with the tagline at the bottom indicating it was from their Blackberry/PDA.
What!?!
Can someone tell me why a HIGH SCHOOLER has to have a Blackberry? I don't have a stinkin' Blackberry. I don't feel I need to check my e-mail/blog/Facebook at every moment of the day. I don't feel the need that a 16 year-old does either.
My other favorite high schooler moment from last week:
I actually had a student e-mail me with great concern about paying for college because, I quote, "I have to pay for my phone, private lessons, prom, drivers ed, my cap and gown..."
All I can say -- It better be one he#$ of a prom to delay going to college! Hope your prom can get you a job, further your life's ambitions & help you become your best self.

Amen! My teenage sis in law has a blackberry! she can't afford to put gas in her car, but for heaven's sake she can pay for her blackberry service so she can check her facebook every second of the day. rediculous.
I love our line of work! Why would ANYONE want to have an electronic leash? Especially one that might delay a college education. Priorities, friends. Priorities.
I have to say that I am a HUGE blackberry fan! I actually think people probably appreciate my having it. Before I used to take forever to respond to emails. Now I reply within 5 minutes of you sending it to me.
Although, I can have a blackberry AND go to college!

Oh and by the way...we missed National Corn Dog Day. We'll have to do a little celebrating this weekend.
