The Alamo + Padre Triple Play

To celebrate our last weekend of summer before school started, we headed to San Antonio (about 2 hours away) to see some sights.

The Alamo

Oh the selfies!

San Antonio Riverwalk

We also ate some Henry's Puffy Tacos - a San Antonio tradition.

Next, we headed to the San Antonio Missions (AA San Diego Padre affiliate) baseball game.
This then completed our summer of Padre baseball - SD Padres vs. TX Rangers (MLB), El Paso Chiuhuahuas vs. Round Rock Express (AAA) & San Antonio Missions vs. Arkansas Travelers (AA).
AA baseball is ... well ... entertaining! The mascot for the Missions is a jalapeno named 'Ball-a-peno' and then he magically becomes a puffy taco for the 5th - 7th innings. They had a fan game after he baseball game that you could buy balls to then throw onto the field to try & land the ball in the chimney of a little house (a shed they hauled onto home plate with a 4 wheeler). Liability issue? Also - they shot off fireworks after the game that Keller insisted we stay to see - and some of the fireworks landed just off the freeway causing a small fire to ignite. August in Texas + dry brush + fireworks is not a good combination. We laughed most of the way home.
